Laser Skin Resurfacing

Laser skin resurfacing at Berks Plastic Surgery helps you achieve smoother, clearer skin with results tailored to your unique goals. Using advanced laser technology, Our Sciton® laser system can help improve:

  • Skin tone and texture
  • Sun damage
  • Fine lines
  • Overall skin clarity

The Sciton system offers multiple treatment depths—from a light refresh with minimal downtime to deeper resurfacing for more significant correction, so we customize your treatment based on your skin type and goals.

Your Laser Depth Options

MicroLaserPeel® & NanoLaserPeel®

Best for: Some fine lines and superficial sun damage

Final results: A few days

These lighter treatments remove a thin layer of damaged skin, revealing fresher, smoother skin beneath. They are an excellent option if you want visible improvement without significant downtime.

ProFractional™ Therapy

Best for: Fine lines, wrinkles, and more extensive sun damage

Final results: 1-2 weeks+

ProFractional therapy is a customizable fractional resurfacing treatment that uses a tiny laser beam to treat thousands of pinpoint areas on the skin. Because only a fraction of your skin is treated at a time, the surrounding untreated tissue supports faster healing. Over time, your skin’s natural healing response produces improved firmness and resilience.

Contour TRL™ Therapy

Best for: Deep lines, wrinkles, and scars

Final results: 2 weeks+

Contour TRL effectively addresses deep wrinkles, lines, and scars for more noticeable correction in just one treatment. This is our most intensive laser option and is ideal for patients seeking significant improvement.

WATCH: Our Aesthetician’s ProFractional Laser Journey

Berks Plastic Surgery aesthetician Donna Erb documented her healing process after receiving the ProFractional Therapy laser treatment. All swelling and peeling resolved by two weeks. She experienced about 3-4 days of swelling and redness (a normal response called erythema), along with some mild itching on day 3.

Frequently Asked Questions About Laser Skin Resurfacing

Our laser treatments can help address a range of common skin concerns, including:

  • Uneven skin tone and texture
  • Sun damage and age spots
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Overall skin clarity and firmness

Each treatment is fully customized for your skin type and goals. During your consultation, our team will assess your skin and recommend the approach that makes the most sense for you.

Most patients describe the sensation as a warm, prickling feeling. We apply a topical numbing cream before treatment to keep you comfortable throughout the procedure. Deeper treatments like Contour TRL™ may require additional numbing or sedation, which we will discuss with you during your consultation.

Treatment time depends on the areas being addressed and the depth of resurfacing. Most sessions take 30 minutes to an hour. We will give you a more specific estimate based on your customized treatment plan.

Many patients see noticeable improvement after a single session, particularly with deeper treatments like Contour TRL™ or ProFractional™ therapy. Lighter treatments like MicroLaserPeel® may be repeated periodically to maintain results.

Recovery varies based on treatment depth:

  • Contour TRL™: More significant redness and peeling for approximately two weeks. This treatment requires the most downtime but delivers the most noticeable correction.
  • MicroLaserPeel® and NanoLaserPeel®: Mild redness and flaking for a few days. Most patients return to normal activities the next day.
  • ProFractional™ therapy: Redness, swelling, and peeling for about one week. You may also feel some tightness and mild itching. Most patients feel comfortable in public after four to seven days.

After most laser treatments, we recommend using a gentle cleanser, lipid serums, moisturizer, and a non-irritating mineral-based sunscreen.

Initial improvement is often visible once redness and peeling subside. However, your skin continues to produce new collagen for several months after treatment, so you may notice continued improvement in firmness and texture over time.

Laser skin resurfacing works well for patients concerned about sun damage, fine lines, uneven texture, or mild scarring. During your consultation, we’ll evaluate your skin type, discuss your goals, and determine whether laser resurfacing—or another medspa treatment—is the right fit for you.

Yes. Many patients combine laser resurfacing with other treatments for more comprehensive rejuvenation. We advise all patients to maintain results of medspa treatments with medical-grade skincare at home, and depending on your specific goals, we may recommend pairing laser therapy with any of our other complementary treatments like Botox-type injectables or dermal fillers.
