Breast implant profiles impact how your breasts will look from every angle. In this quick guide, expert Motiva breast implant surgeon Dr. Brian Reedy explains what each Motiva implant profile means for size, shape, and motion—and the professional measurements he takes to pinpoint the perfect match for your body and goals.

When we talk about implant “profiles,” we’re really talking about how far the implant projects from your chest wall relative to its base width. Think of profile as the side-view silhouette, not the cup size.

Breast implant profile
“Implant Profile” refers to the side view of the implant, or how far it projects from your chest wall.

Motiva offers three projection levels in both their SmoothSilk Round and SmoothSilk Ergonomix® lines:

ProfileForward ProjectionBest For Patients Who Want…
MiniLowestSoft slope, subtle enhancement, athletic look
DemiModerate-lowBalanced fullness that still looks naturally proportional
FullModerate-highNoticeable upper-pole fullness and a rounder, “photo-ready” curve

1. Motiva Mini Profile

The flange (base) of the Mini profile is relatively wide, so volume is spread out instead of pushing straight forward.

Effect on size & shape:

  • Adds gentle fullness with a lower “horizon” between the breast and chest
  • Maintains a naturally sloped upper pole for the right body frame
  • Can deliver full cup-size increases without looking “augmented” in most cases

Dr. Reedy typically recommends a low-profile breast implant for patients with a broader ribcage who risk looking top-heavy in higher profiles.

2. Motiva Demi Profile

A narrower base than Mini, the Demi profile produces moderate forward projection while preserving a soft contour.

Effect on size & shape:

  • Noticeable cleavage and upper-pole volume without a steep incline
  • Works well for both subfascial (over-the-muscle) and submuscular placement
  • Provides enough projection to round out deflated breasts

Moderate-low profiles are generally well-suited for patients with an average chest width and who desire a “middle-ground” projection option.

3. Motiva Full Profile

The narrowest base of the three, focusing volume forward for maximum projection.

Effect on size & shape:

  • Creates dramatic cleavage and a rounder upper pole
  • Less risk of lateral “side-boob” overflow on petite frames because the base is smaller

A full, moderate-high profile can achieve a glam, high-profile look (think fitness-model aesthetics) or remain natural-looking on patients with a naturally narrow chest who need projection to fill the bra cup.

Motiva’s Mini, Demi, and Full profiles allow us to tailor projection without over- or under-building your breast footprint to achieve beautifully natural results.

How We Determine Your Perfect Profile

Choosing the right Motiva profile is a technical art; here are the assessments Dr. Reedy completes at Berks Plastic Surgery:

Base Diameter & Chest Anatomy

Dr. Reedy starts with precise tape-measure readings of your breast base width and a close look at your rib-cage curvature. These numbers set the outer limits for implant width and help us predict how each profile will project from your chest wall without spilling too far to the side or looking overly prominent.

Tissue Thickness

Next, he evaluates the thickness of your existing breast tissue at the upper pole of the breast (the top portion of tissue above the areola) and gauges skin elasticity. Thicker tissue can hide a higher-profile edge, while thinner tissue may benefit from a softer gel or a lower profile to keep rippling or visible edges at bay.

Sizers

We use in-office sizers to preview Mini, Demi, and Full profiles on your frame.  Seeing the side-view difference helps patients grasp why, say, a 300cc Demi profile can look completely different from a 300cc Full.
